It has been five (FIVE!) months since Ali and I traveled to Dubai and London. I had a mini breakdown (okay, that is maybe a bit dramatic – although it does happen quite often) this afternoon that I have not done enough traveling in my life which is a bit ridiculous because in my 26 years on this Earth I have explored; most of South Africa, Disney World, Orlando, Miami, New York, Greece, Spain, Ireland, France, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, London, Dubai and Namibia.
So, whilst I am planning my next trip (BALI IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS) I want to update the traveling section of this here blog. But first I need to organise my photos as they are all over the place; on SD cards, old phones, USB sticks, Dropbox etc etc etc and in no order whatsoever. It is a bit of a daunting task but such an important one. In the meantime I thought I would do an Instagram round up of my Dubai and London trip. First up…
It’s tough waiting for a flight. ? A photo posted by Tamzin Nel (@femmegypsy) on
Hi! From Dubai! This is from our hotel room stoep. We landed this morning just after 3 am SA time. We didn’t get much, if any, sleep on the plane but I did watch a great movie (5 flights up with Diane Keaton and Morgan Freeman). It’s now 8 am here (6 am in SA) and we are so grateful that they have managed to book us in a little early. We’ve snapped the room, brushed our teeth, washed our faces and are off on a Hop-on, hop-off bus tour. Stepping outside is like stepping into a sauna. We are incredibly excitable and in awe of everything we see! #travelDubai #Dubai ? femmegypsy
We had such a fantastic first day in Dubai! We did the Beach and Marina route of the hop-on, hop-off bus and I actually can’t even begin to explain everything right now. (If you want to see my incoherent rumblings on Snapchat, head on over there). I took this on our Dhow cruise. I wonder how many photos of skyscrapers one person can take? No-one can accuse of us not taking full advantage of the day. We saw, did and experienced as much as possible! Tomorrow we’re doing the City Tour (through to old Dubai and the souks), hopefully a 4×4 desert safari and a nice dinner and drinks. #travelDubai #visitDubai #Dubai #Skyline #theyachtlife A photo posted by Tamzin Nel (@femmegypsy) on
Don’t let anybody tell you that the 4×4 Desert Safari is not worth it! It was incredible. The ride was hysterically exhilarating, the food delicious, and the performances captivating. ?? Also, go read @seamsandsilhouettes last IG post about our first day in Dubai and go have a look at our Snaps. #travelDubai #4x4DesertSafari #Dubai #visitDubai
The view from our room at night or, in this case, morning. Dubai has been such an experience and I have loved every minute (ok, maybe not the extreme heat and profuse sweating). We are at the airport and on our way to London! Kath, see you soon! ?? ??? #travelDubai #Dubai #visitDubai A photo posted by Tamzin Nel (@femmegypsy) on
